SpotifyAmi Dar is the founder and Executive Director of Idealist.org, one of the largest non-profit websites in the world.
Idealist.org connects people who want to make a positive impact in the world with organizations who have the means to make it happen. It’s essentially a job search website, but exclusively for non-profit and volunteer work.
Ami himself has been recognized by Time Magazine as “Philanthropy Innovator of the Year,”
made the NonProfit Times list of “50 Most Influential People” five different years, and was most recently awarded NonProfit Pro’s “2019 NonProfit Professional of the Year.”
But as you’ll hear in the conversation, Ami genuinely isn’t interested in awards or even his legacy. He really, truly just want to build a better world for you and me.
Ami graciously took a 3-hour train from his home in NYC to meet me and my wife Lindsey, who works in non-profit and used Idealist.org in the past. She was thrilled!
The three of us spent an incredible day together, of which this interview was only a small portion. And let me tell you, I’m sold. Ami’s on a mission, and I’m signing up.
We discussed how much the world has changed since he launched Idealist.org at the very beginning of the World Wide Web, all about his new global initiative called Idealist Day, and of course, Ami shares his story of a chance encounter with lasting impact.
